Getup: Still Summer

Here in LA, if we’re lucky, the hot summer temps will give way to “fall” (at least two consecutive days with a high of 65 degrees) around mid-November. Until then, we are sipping our PSLs by the pool. Like a modern day rain dance, every year around this time I pull out my leather jackets, flannels, sweaters, and scarves in the vain hope that my collection of autumnal clothing will appease the weather gods. Alas, any clothing I own that is suitable for cooler weather will be collecting dust until Thanksgiving.

Even though I want to flounce around in my cute fall outfits so bad, I’m no fool. It was 85 degrees a couple days ago when I wore this outfit. I really wanted to wear this Brixton hat, but we were going to be outside in the sun so I paired it with a skirt and knit tank so I wouldn’t overheat.

I don’t own a lot of skirts. Over the years I have noticed that however modest a skirt may look on the rack, my back-end anatomy has a tendency to turn it into something that is one light breeze away from disaster. That, or the band is too loose and rides up, turning a nice, knee-length skirt into a show called Here’s What My Underwear Looks Like, starring: My Ass. You get my drift? I was really happy to find this skirt at Free People over the summer. Though it isn’t modest by any means, a tighter skirt that hugs my curves works better for me because it actually stays in place and doesn’t ride up at all, even when I sit down.

This PSL is for you.
