Getup: Night Out

On the night I wore this outfit I was heading off to visit my BFF at her new digs in the Arts District and do a little bar-hopping in the area. This silhouette is one that I have been trying to keep in mind lately when putting together an outfit: A looser top accompanied by tighter jeans. You really can’t go wrong with that combo.

Can we talk about this bag for a second? It’s from Old Navy.

I haven’t been impressed with the style of Old Navy’s stuff for a year or so. I tend to look elsewhere for anything other than my boring professional clothes and pajamas, but  I was in Old Navy picking up some work pants the other day and saw this adorable bag hanging on a hook behind the registers. I searched for it all over the store before returning to the front and sheepishly asking an employee “Is that reserved for someone?”.  She didn’t know and neither did anyone working there at the time, so it when home with me. Apologies to anyone reading this who reserved this bag at the Irvine Spectrum Old Navy. You can pry it from my cold, dead, hands.

I think what really drew me in was the color. I’m a sucker for that rich, brick red and it caught my eye immediately. I even attempted to copy the color on my lips for this outfit.

I apparently have a thing for fun-shaped bags lately since this bag and my Baggu purse are both recent acquisitions. I did a quick Google search and apparently the shape of this bag is known as the “half moon” and according to this site it is the “latest handbag to covet this fall”. Look out world.

And please tell me I’m not the only girl who has, more than once, gotten her foot stuck in her ripped jeans? These poor Jamie jeans from Topshop were purchased with the perfect amount of rip in the knees until I shoved my gigantic foot into one of the holes and ripped it from seam to seam. They don’t look terrible but it still bugs me.
